Who we are
Come make friends, be helpful to others, learn to care for the environment and for your communities, and do your very best no matter the outcome. With the help of powerful learning projects and exciting outdoor activities, we aim to teach children that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience—no matter the difficulty of the challenge.
We are an English-speaking gathering of kids and families from public, international and private schools all around Munich, Germany. While founded as the "Boy Scouts of America", we are open to all nationalities, though families should be comfortable with all communication being in English. We also plan activities together with other international scouts, such as the German Pfadfinder, the Girl Scouts of America and the Scouts de France.
Cub scouts is run by parent volunteers using guidelines and resources from the BSA. Cubs Pack 147 is a part of the (European) Transatlantic Council's Edelweiss District of the BSA (formerly called the Boy Scouts of America, but no longer limited to boys).
What we do
Scouting is fun! Kids interact with peers to learn skills like tying knots, setting up a tent, ice fishing, woodworking, hiking, camping, safety skills, first aid, team skills and more. They can explore and enjoy the outdoors, and earn rewards for doing things with Scouts. The ultimate goals of cub scouting are character development, participatory citizenship, mental and personal fitness, outdoor skills and awareness, and leadership. Our Calendar lists the planned events and our regular meetings. Please email us for meeting details or other questions.
How to join
Cub Scouting is family scouting: a parent or guardian accompanies their cubs to events and meetings so that the kids can get the most benefit of the program. Scouts BSA works to ensure that parents and other individuals who play a parental role in a cub scout’s life can impact and participate in Scouting. Parent involvement is encouraged, whether simply contributing snacks or chaperoning outings to planning and leading activities or teaching skills.
As the BSA Cub Scout program provides structured opportunities for families to enjoy fun activities together, annual paid registration is required to join cub scouts. BSA also requires participating adults to complete a youth protection training (75-Minute online certification).
